As an NGO with special consultative status with UN-ECOSOC, the Institute is preparing to attend the first Preparatory Committee (PrepCom I) in the lead up to Habitat III – the United Nation’s third conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, set to take place in 2016. Habitat III will build off of Habitat I (Vancouver 1976) and Habitat II (Istanbul 1996). It will provide an opportunity for global stakeholders to discuss sustainable urbanization in a post-2015 development agenda, as well as craft a “New Urban Agenda”.
