WHAT WE DO

The Institute is committed to documenting and evaluating emerging urban development trends, identifying best practices in urban and regional growth management, and promoting sustainable rural and urban development through the transfer of innovative international experiences.

Where do you work and what languages do you speak?

Our staff have experience working in the places identified in the map above. We speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic and Mandarin. We also work with an extensive network of partners in the field who contribute local knowledge and language skills.

Do you partner with other organizations?

In our research and implementation projects, we partner with a number of other institutions including the Stockholm Environment Institute, the Lincoln Institute for Land Policy, and the Center for Cross-Border Studies. If you are interested in working with us, we welcome you to contact us.

Where does your funding come from?

Approximately two-thirds of our funding comes from projects. In these contractual projects, we do not seek to earn a profit on the work. Around one-third of our funding comes from generous board support and fundraising, which supports independent research and participation in international networks.
