The ICLRD is a ‘cross-border, cross-campus, cross-disciplinary’ initiative among universities and research centers to:
- Provide independent joined-up research and policy advice on cross-border and all-island spatial planning and local and regional development;
- Offer professional education programs for local, regional and national government representatives, officials and local communities;
- Act as catalyst to bring relevant public and private actors, North and South, together to work on common goals;
- Assist local governments and communities to translate policy into ‘on the ground’ action; and
- Promote international cooperation and exchanges.
