Brazil | Assessment of Participatory Budgeting in Brazil

Study funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, 2005

This study documented and analyzed participatory budget processes in Brazil, with particular focus on Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, Santo Andre, Caxias do Sul and Gravataí.  It aimed to assess the extent to which participatory budgeting is fostering the efficient and democratic allocation of resources and citizen involvement in planning and management of their localities.
