Morocco | Review of Ongoing USAID Shelter Sector Activities in Morocco

USAID, 1992 The review concentrated on institutional and economic impacts and included an evaluation of their contribution to fulfilling the USAID policy objectives.  USAID’s shelter sector activities in Morocco were conceptualized in the mid-1980s within the context of accelerating urbanization and massive rural-urban migration.  The programs focused on:  rationalizing the land delivery process; regularizing informal land development; institutionalizing sound administrative and fiscal practices in infrastructure management and finance and in the delivery of urban services; widening the scope of private sector participation in the housing market; and reinforcing decentralization by strengthening local managerial capabilities.
