I2UD turns 10!

This year, the Institute for International Urban Development is celebrating its tenth anniversary. We look forward to a bright future for the Institute beyond this milestone that has been made possible by generous contributions from our supporters. To celebrate, we’ve created a series of postcards from the cities and communities we’ve worked in to share with you some of the highlights of our work since becoming an independent non-profit organization. As we enter our 10th year as I2UD (and nearly three decades of working together), the Institute continues an approach that builds a bridge between the practice of urban and regional development and our  research  activities funded mainly by the annual gifts of our supporters.

I2UD has been a driver of change and transformation in the cities and regions around the world where we work, as highlighted in our postcards. Our activities can be summarized by four words: Collaborate. Educate. Plan. Sustain.

Supporting communities in transition The institute provides planning expertise to transform vulnerable communities into thriving neighborhoods, and marginalized dwellers into shop owners. Bathore, Albania, 2000 and 2014 We first met Ali in 2000 during field documentation, and then again in 2014.
