For three years, the Institute led an Advanced Leadership Program for senior Chinese officials on behalf of the Office of Executive Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In 2006, the program was attended by 29 participants selected by Tsinghua University. The topics presented were selected to illustrate emerging trends in urban planning in the Western World, including dynamics of urban growth and urban planning in market economies; meeting the challenge of sustainable development; the redevelopment of obsolete areas through public/private initiatives; and environmental planning.
