CUDS organized a local area development workshop in Zalu, Romania in 2003 in support of a World Bank study to identify the nature and extent of spatial and economic rural-urban linkages as well as the impact of distance and location on a variety of economic activities. The workshop provided important qualitative information from a local and regional perspective to complement the other components of the World Bank study that focus on a national level.
